Connect FirstSourceTeam to Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot

Add https://firstsourceteam.com/api/mcp as a custom connector (Claude), a custom MCP server (ChatGPT) or an MCP tool (Copilot Studio), then sign in with your employer portal account. Your assistant can then answer questions about your program's numbers; employee names never leave FirstSourceTeam.

Connect FirstSourceTeam to Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot and ask about your program's numbers; employee names never leave FirstSourceTeam. The connection is a read-only MCP (Model Context Protocol) server at https://firstsourceteam.com/api/mcp. You sign in with the same account you use for the employer portal, and the assistant can then answer questions such as "How many people in the March launch group have started coaching?" or "What have we paid so far, and what's still owed?"

Available once your administrator connects it. AI assistant access is turned on per organization by FirstSourceTeam. Until it is on for your organization, signing in works but every request is refused with "AI assistant access isn't turned on for your organization yet". Ask FirstSourceTeam at hello@firstsourceteam.com to turn it on.

Before you start

  • You need an employer portal account (admin or viewer) and you need to have signed in to the portal at least once, from the invitation your administrator sent. Both roles can use every tool.
  • The connector only reads. It can't add participants, send invitations, change statuses or move money.
  • Every request is limited to your own organization. Which organization you see comes from your portal account, not from anything you or the assistant type.

Custom connectors work on the Free (one connector), Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans.

Pro, Max or Free:

  1. Go to Customize → Connectors and select Add custom connector.
  2. For the server URL, enter https://firstsourceteam.com/api/mcp.
  3. If asked how to sign in, choose Sign in now. If asked for an OAuth client, choose Use Claude's published identity. Leave the OAuth client ID and secret empty.
  4. Select Add, then Connect, and sign in with your employer portal account.

Team or Enterprise: an Owner adds the connector once for the organization under Organization settings → Connectors → Add → Custom (type Web) with the same URL. Each person then goes to Customize → Connectors, finds FirstSourceTeam with the Custom label, selects Connect and signs in with their own portal account.

To use it in a chat, open the + menu, select Connectors and make sure FirstSourceTeam is on.

ChatGPT

Custom MCP servers are available on ChatGPT web. On Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces, an admin or owner may first need to allow members to create apps or plugins with custom MCP servers in the workspace settings.

  1. Open Plugins (chatgpt.com/plugins), select the + button, then Add custom MCP server.
  2. Enter a name (for example "FirstSourceTeam") and a short description.
  3. Under Connection, choose Public endpoint and enter https://firstsourceteam.com/api/mcp.
  4. For authentication, choose OAuth, review the warning and select I understand and want to continue.
  5. Select Create as a plugin, review the tools ChatGPT found, and install it. Sign in with your employer portal account when asked.
  6. In a new conversation, type @ and select the plugin.

Microsoft Copilot (Copilot Studio)

  1. In Copilot Studio, open your agent and go to Tools → Add a tool → New tool → Model Context Protocol.
  2. Enter a Server name (for example "FirstSourceTeam"), a Server description ("Aggregate outplacement program statistics and costs for our organization") and the Server URL https://firstsourceteam.com/api/mcp.
  3. For authentication, choose OAuth 2.0, type Dynamic discovery, and select Create.
  4. On Add tool, select Create a new connection, sign in with your employer portal account, then select Add to agent.

Copilot Studio uses the Streamable HTTP transport, which is what this server speaks. Your organization's Power Platform data policies also apply to the connection.

If something doesn't work

What you seeWhat it means
"This account has no FirstSourceTeam employer portal access"Sign in to the employer portal once with your invitation, then connect again.
"AI assistant access isn't turned on for your organization yet"FirstSourceTeam hasn't turned it on for your organization; contact hello@firstsourceteam.com.
"Rate limit reached"More than 30 requests a minute from you, or 300 an hour from your organization. Wait and ask again.
A number shows as hiddenIt's fewer than 5 people, or would reveal such a number. See Privacy.
"Who" questions aren't answeredBy design: the connector has no names or individual statuses. Use the employer portal.

To disconnect, remove the connector or plugin in your assistant. Removing someone from your team in the portal also ends their access on their next request.

See Tools and what they return for everything the assistant can ask for.
